The Psychology of Magic

My book on the psychology of magic, co-written with Gustav Kuhn and published by Vanishing Inc., brings together years of scientific research to explore how magic works on the mind — and how magicians can use these insights in practice.

Since its release in 2023, it has become the fastest-selling titles on Vanishing Inc. and a recurring bestseller within the magic community.

“Wonderful scientific insights into the psychology of magic. An essential read for any serious magician!”
Derren Brown

The book is available through specialist magic retailers, including Vanishing Inc.

Event

The Session 2026

I had the pleasure of taking part in The Session once again, held from January 9–11, 2026 in London, alongside Vanishing Inc. ✨

As part of the Magic Lab, we ran a series of interactive and playful experiments designed specifically for magicians. I also led workshops on ethics in mentalism and shared some particularly surprising findings from comparisons between magicians and non-magicians.

Thank you to everyone who joined, took part in the experiments, or came to the sessions, these moments of shared curiosity and reflection are exactly what I love to create.

How much of Derren Brown's magic is true 'mentalism' (it was far more than we expected)

The BEST force in magic (I guarantee it will surprise you)

How to avoid being tricked (the answer made us laugh out loud)

And finally... why all humans are lazy (and how accepting that can change your life forever)
